Gwyneth Paltrow: Monroe's look is timeless

Gwyneth Paltrow learnt a lot about make-up from being on set with her mother as a little girl.

The Oscar winning actress recently recreated the look of Hollywood screen siren Marilyn Monroe for her latest Max Factor campaign. The cosmetics brand has an ongoing 100 Years of Glamour photo series, and Gwyneth was thrilled to be part of it.

"I love this look. I think they did an amazing job with the make-up and the wig. It feels quite cool and it's a really good photo," she told Hello! magazine. "I think, with a more modern hairstyle, the Marilyn would be my perfect night-time look."

To recreate the Some Like it Hot stars blonde bombshell image, the 42-year-old wore a rich pink lip, tousled hair, and full-on voluminous lashes. Gwyneth admits that the lipstick used in the photoshoot is one of her favourites from the range when it comes to a party look.

"I like an undone, smudgy, smoky eye because it makes my eyes go very blue. It's a look you see a lot in London," she explained. "Although for a special occasion I love a strong lip - the Marilyn Monroe colour [Colour Elixir Lipstick in Bewitching Coral] is beautiful."

The Iron Man star has learnt a lot about cosmetics over the years thanks to spending so much time on movie sets with her mother, actress Blythe Danner. It's a time that she looks back on with great fondness.

"I remember being with my mom on film sets and watching her get her make-up done," she recalled. "There's a picture of me sitting on her lap in a make-up chair, trying to do her lipstick. I was always in that world of make-up and make-up artists."
