Haim: Fashion is functional
Haim see fashion as a purely functional way to avoid "nip-slips".
The band, which consists of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim and drummer Dash Hutton, rose to fame with catchy tracks such as Don't Save Me.
Their cool indie look has garnered attention, but style isn't something the talented siblings pay much attention to.
"I think it’s just what we wake up and put on. With fashion it’s kind of what’s comfortable and what covers your bits," Alana explained to Fashionista.
"We can’t have any nip-slips – no Janet Jacksons in this family."
Last weekend Haim played a set at Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
Music events are great place for fashionistas to showcase their style and the band revealed which looks they currently like.
"I’m into overalls. I don’t think I’d ever wear them myself, but when I see someone in them at a festival, I think that’s a good look," Danielle said.
Este added: "I don’t think we see anything ever and say that’s a no-no. I think if you wear it and you’re confident in it and feel good in it, that’s all that matters."
While the girls might look super cool these days, they've also had their fair share of fashion blunders.
Este cited a tie-dye nylon shirt as her biggest style fail.
"Super Clueless!" Alana laughed.
