H&M creates Tattoo film-inspired line
H&M is collaborating with upcoming thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
The popular high street retailer is creating a collection inspired by the movie's protagonist Lisbeth Salander.
The anti-hero is portrayed by Rooney Mara in the David Fincher-directed film.
It's the first time H&M has partnered with a movie to create a range, and they are keen to make the clothes as true to the highly-anticipated picture as possible.
The firm has collaborated with the film's costume designer Trish Summerville to create the forthcoming line.
"Salander's look is very real and very lived in, with pieces that her character has worn for a long time, like her jackets that act as her armour to shield her from the world," Trish explained in an interview with Vogue.co.uk.
"I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge, and I'm pleased with the result! My goal is for women to find pieces in it that they love and then mix them with their own wardrobe to create their own personal style."
Anna Norling - a designer for H&M - is thrilled with the result.
She thinks costumer Trish did a great job with carefully relating the pieces back to the film.
"I love this collection and what we've achieved with Trish," she explained.
"She has such an amazing eye, is so specific and has such a strong vision. The clothes are all about the attitude - they have a toughness to them but they are also really flattering. The collection is so much more than costume - it's a fashion statement, it's modern, and it's right for now."
The 30-piece collection will include leather jackets and trousers, ripped jeans and hoodies.
The colour palette is subdued and features shades of black, grey, worn white and dark red.
The range will debut exclusively at Colette in Paris on November 28. It will then be available worldwide from December 14.
It will be stocked in around 180 H&M stores, as well as online.
