Hayek and Chastain bond over women
Jessica Chastain and Salma Hayek bonded over female empowerment during the Saint Laurent show at Paris Fashion Week.
Salma, 48, and Jessica, 37, both attended the Saint Laurent show in the French capital as part of the world-famous fashion event.
And the actresses found that their movie careers weren’t the only things they had in common.
“We talked about female empowerment…” Salma told Yahoo! while at the fashion show.
Salma has had differing views on feminism over the years. Despite saying previously that she is “not” a feminist, she insisted in a recent interview that she is one.
“I am a feminist because I love women and I am ready to fight for women,” she told The Guardian newspaper. “I am a feminist because I am proud to be a woman, and I am passionate about making the world a better place for women. I am a feminist because a lot of amazing women have made me the woman I am today. I am inspired by women every day, as friends and as colleagues.”
Salma and Jessica sat front row as they watched the latest Saint Laurent creations walk the runway.
But while Salma was keen on the majority of the offerings, there was one item that she wasn’t so sure about.
“I’m much older than Jessica, but it reminds me of the 80s: a little punk, but chic,” Salma said. “A different take on it: very strong, very sexy, very feminine … I loved every single piece. Well, [apart from] the one with the boob out, [that] I don’t know that I can ever wear. Yes, Jessica can.”
