Heidi Klum astounded kids with costume
Heidi Klum couldn't see or smell very well when dressed as a butterfly for Halloween.
The 41-year-old beauty always goes all out for the annual holiday and didn't disappoint this time round. On Friday she threw her 15th Halloween party in New York at TAO Downtown and stunned in a colourful butterfly outfit, which saw her covered head to toe in paint and a bold body suit with giant wings fastened. Even Heidi's face was transformed as she rocked huge bug eyes and antenna, giving an even more realistic finish.
While some may have been unnerved by her dramatic appearance the star revealed her children - Helene, Lou, Henry and Johan - weren't as freaked out as she thought they'd be.
"Then I just flew over here to the party," she laughed to E! News from the red carpet.
"[My kids thought it was] wild and crazy. They said, 'Are you really in there Mama?' They weren't scared at all but the one time that I [looked] like me but older, they were scared."
Heidi was referring to her 2013 costume when she dressed up as an elderly woman, complete with wrinkles and a walking stick.
The wings were hard to handle this year though and she ended up taking them off during her bash as she explained the meaning behind her extravagant choice.
"I just can't see and I can't smell very well," she added.
"Well someone very special to my heart called me a schmetterling [German word for butterfly], so I wanted to be a butterfly this year. They're just so pretty and colourful and I used to love painting butterflies."
Heidi's outfit made her stand more than eight feet wide and 12 feet tall with her wings spread. Giving fans an insight into the hard work put into it she posted a short video on Instagram the day after Halloween showing different stages of her make-up.
"This is how it happens #hkhalloween #behindthecostume (sic)" she wrote alongside the clip.
