Helen Mirren: I'm ditching beautiful
Dame Helen Mirren doesn't see herself ageing as a "shock" because she's constantly having her photo taken.
The 69-year-old actress continues to stun with her youthful looks even now and is known for wearing stunning, figure-hugging ensembles while on the red carpet.
She may have been named the new face of L'Oréal Paris make-up last year, but Helen doesn't believe that people's looks are the most important thing.
"I don’t really like the word 'beauty'. There are physically beautiful people in the world (David Beckham, for instance, is unbelievably beautiful), then there are other people that are not beautiful, but are very attractive because of their personality, energy, brilliance, genius: all kinds of things," she explained to Mail Online.
"So I have a resistance to the word 'beautiful'. I wish we could find another word that takes it away from physical beauty and brings it more into the world of true attractiveness."
But her outlook didn't put her off accepting the job for the cosmetics giant and she was flattered to have been approached. She's long been a fan of the brand and can relate to its slogan 'Because I'm worth it' as she sees it as a confidence booster for females of all ages.
Helen may seem content in her own skin now, but it took some drastic measures for her to feel comfortable with her changing looks.
"My whole life has been slightly different from most people’s in the sense that I’ve always had to look at images of myself from when I was 21 years old," she added.
"I’ve either been in front of a camera or in the theatre, being photographed, having my picture in the paper, so I’ve grown up with what I look like and ageing has never sort of come as a shock."
