Christina Hendricks uses a hydrating hair mask once a week to maintain her locks.

The actress is best known for her role as Joan Harris in hit AMC series Mad Men, which is currently airing its final season. Her character always has her hair up in an array of styles but in real life, Christina keeps her tresses wavy and shoulder length.

The 39-year-old does still dream of having long locks, but doesn't expect it to become a reality.

"I'd love to have super-long curly hair, but that's not going to happen any time soon," she laughed to the British edition of Marie Claire. "I've grown and cut my hair in cycles my whole life, but I tend to stay in the bob range now."

Christina is famous for her deep-red hair colour but in reality she is a natural blonde. While she admitted to the outlet that she's been dyeing her hair since she was ten years old, Christina cares about her follicles.

"I'm dedicated to the health of my hair," she said. "I have it trimmed every two months and I'm really good about putting hydrating hair masks on once a week."

While the actress keeps her look pretty mainstream these days, when she was growing up she experimented a lot with her hair and make-up, even trying a pixie cut at one stage. Christina is glad she tried out the array of looks and doesn't think people should be afraid to be different.

"Embrace individuality. You never know what's going to suit you unless you try new things," she added. "You can decide who you want to be each day - and that's what's fun. I really appreciate other people's uniqueness."
