Hilfiger: Deschanel is an inspiration
US designer Tommy Hilfiger has praised his muse Zooey Deschanel for her "quirky and preppy" style.
The iconic American fashion designer fell in love with the New Girl star's personal style the first time he met her.
Celebrating the launch of their joint line To Tommy, From Zooey, Hilfiger couldn't stop gushing about his new muse.
"I met her at a lunch and I saw what she was wearing and I thought, 'Oh my God, this girl really knows what's going on,'" he told Style.com. "I thought we could do her quirky preppy aspiration with our sensibility and it would be a great collaboration."
"All the details were sort of fun for me - the buttons, the zipper pulls, the trim, all the little collars, adding my flair to his flair. It was kind of like having someone make all the things in your head come into reality," Zooey added.
The brunette beauty, 34, has won an army of fashion fans thanks to her slightly nerdy yet pretty vintage-inspired style.
Her collaboration with Hilfiger includes 16 dresses priced from $98 to $199 as well as a selection of jewellery and handbags and perfectly reflects Zooey's aesthetic.
"I am a fashion fanatic, and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe," she told FabSugar.com. "Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations - old-school music, classic films, and old Hollywood icons - and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece."
To Tommy, From Zooey is available online, at select Tommy Hilfiger stores and at Macy's from today.
