Irina Shayk: Playboy isn't for me
Irina Shayk would never pose for Playboy, despite being offered "so much money" to do so.
The Russian model appears scantily-clad in the new issue of Esquire magazine. She is seen posing with her arms across her bare breasts and in underwear, but insists that is as far as she would go.
The star sees appearing in the pages of Hugh Hefner's famed adult publication as on another level.
"I get so many requests, 'Do this magazine. Do this campaign.' But you have to be smart. I would never do Playboy. Yes, I am a lingerie model, but I have class. Playboy offered me so much money last year. I was like, 'No. Way,'" she explained in the February edition of the publication. "Alright Naomi Campbell did it and Claudia Schiffer did it. But they did it at the end of their career and it was classy. I think of myself as a cover girl. But I would never do some kind of cheesy magazine."
The 25-year-old star has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and has modelled for Victoria's Secret. She is currently dating soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, things were very different for her when she was growing up. Although Irina was always confident, not everyone agreed that she was beautiful.
"I loved high heels from the age of ten! Short skirts and then high heels. My classmates used to make fun of me. Like, 'Ooh, she's so skinny and she's wearing high heels,'" she recalled.
"But I just wore what I like and I didn't care about people's opinions, the same as I don't care now. Boys never liked me at school. They made fun of me 'cos I had dark skin."
The model also had some stark advice for anyone seeking to replicate her career.
"No one wants to work with a stupid girl. You have to be beautiful on the inside, then people will want to continue to work with you," she said.
