Jada Pinkett Smith gets physical

Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith spends less time than ever in the gym but feels she looks her best.

The 42-year-old actress looks amazing for her age, even after having two kids - Jaden and Willow - with her husband Will.

Over the years she's come to understand what works for her body.

“You know what?” she laughed to The Edit. “I don’t know if I feel stronger than ever, but I do feel better than ever.

“As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that it’s about being physical every day. You don’t have to go to the gym if that’s not your thing. You can go outside your door and walk around your block.”

This means Jada doesn't shell out on a trainer. Instead she enjoys the fresh air and loves to practise "old-school" roller-skating.

“You can take a brisk walk, a light jog, a slow stroll if you want! I feel like, as I’ve gotten older, I look better than ever and I work out less. I’m never in the gym for [more than] 45 minutes," she grinned.

It's clear that Jada oozes confidence when she poses on the red carpet.

She didn't have an easy childhood - her mother battled drug addiction until Jada was 17 - but she's come out strong the other side and is very close to her mom. The actress hopes to pass self-esteem on to her children.

“I want my kids to be happy and I want them to be themselves. I was saying to a friend the other day, ‘Remember, our kids are not us.’ They’re not. Sometimes we’re trying to fix things that happened to us or projecting [onto them], and that’s a terrible, terrible trap," she warned.

In her accompanying photoshoot for the Net-A-Porter magazine, Jada looks incredible. The star poses in a variety of outfits, including a skin-tight black dress by Elizabeth and James and a leather number by Dion Lee.
