Jamie Bell skinny and proud

Jamie Bell can't believe he managed to bulk up for his role in Filth.

The British actor rose to fame playing a young ballet dancer in 2000 movie Billy Elliot.

He's now taking on gritty thriller Filth, in which he shows off some impressive muscles.

"I don't really know how that happened - I'm usually a skinny stick!" he laughed to the latest edition of British InStyle magazine.

"To be honest, I don't do any exercise. I only play [soccer] at the weekend with a bunch of expats - we're all pretty out of shape."

These days, Jamie is more about smart suits than ballet shoes.

The 27-year-old would be in no rush to don his costumes from Billy Elliot again.

"If I put [the ballet shoes] on now, I'd probably rupture my spleen. I'm at that age where even putting on a coat, you pull your neck and can't move for three minutes," he grimaced.

"I've been throwing myself around film sets like crazy for ten years. I should have taken much better care of myself. I have minimal cartilage left in my legs - the ballet took it all out of me!"

Jamie recently proved his fashion credentials when he appeared in Esquire Korea.

For the August edition, he donned stylish jumpers, tailored trousers and smart shirts and threw the camera a smouldering glance.
