Janelle Monáe thinks Lupita Nyong’o deserved her Most Beautiful Person status.

The Oscar-winning actress was recently named the Most Beautiful Person by People magazine. Praising her looks, Janelle believes the accolade was more than justified.

“I feel just it’s a no-brainer. She is absolutely gorgeous and I think it's her spirit that helped this awe. Not only is she physically attractive and just beautiful, but I think that she just exudes positive energy and she seems very warm and caring,” she told The Huffington Post. “She also speaks several different languages, she’s smart, she’s intelligent and she’s a hell of an actress. I think all those things make her a beautiful woman.”

The 28-year-old musician is also on the receiving end of compliments for her signature monochrome wardrobe, bold red lips and amazing hair styles. Because of this she has been a spokesperson for beauty giant CoverGirl for the last two years and credits their products for helping her look good.

“I love keeping my bold red lip in CoverGirl’s Lip Perfection Hot 305 - it’s a staple for me. I usually pair that with a light foundation (CoverGril’s True Blend Liquid Foundation), because I don’t like heavy make-up,” she explained. “Then I’ll add mascara (CoverGirl Bombshell mascara), because I absolutely love lashes!”

Unlike many female recording artists, Janelle keeps her hair au naturel both on and off stage. But as she has a lot of hair to deal with, she needs good products that she can rely on to maintain it.

“I use these products by Cantu and I love their leave-in conditioner,” she added. “I have natural hair and it gets really thick if I don’t comb it for a few days or I don’t put it into a protective style, so I use the conditioner to detangle and it moisturises it at the same time.”
