January: Makeup makes me less vulnerable
January Jones says she felt most confident as a child.
The Mad Men actress has posed for a stunning new shoot with Violet Grey’s Violet Files.
And in the accompanying interview, January opened up about self-assurance and confidence.
“We wanted to do an elevated take on before-and-after photos and explore the idea that A LOT of women, myself included, feel less vulnerable once they’re dressed and have their make up on,” she revealed.
For the shoot, January showcases her stunning appearance in five different outfits and with six varied hairstyles.
And the 37-year-old said she is hoping the shots will prove to be something of a confidence boost for anyone struggling with their own appearance.
“I want to give the message that girls can be proud and self-assured no matter what funky haircut they have,” she said.
January also opened up about her childhood in the interview.
“I was at my most confident as a kid,” she said. “It actually wasn’t until I got into high school and started to get ‘pretty' that my confidence started to disappear.”
January stars as Betty Draper in hit US TV show Mad Men. The programme will come to an end this year after seven seasons.
But the actress said she thinks fans of the show will be happy with its conclusion.
“I was surprised, but the show has always surprised me,” she said. “Each episode is so good and sort of ties up things—not in a perfect bow, obviously—but I think the audience will be happy.”
