Jennifer Lawrence Oscar fashion tips
Jennifer Lawrence has become synonymous with Dior, so will she chose the fashion house for the upcoming Oscars?
Jennifer Lawrence's position as darling of the movie and fashion world shows little chance of slowing; she's just become the youngest person to score four Oscar nominations after all. The 25-year-old star is in the running for the best actress 2016 Academy Award thanks to her role in Joy, and one thing's for sure - she will rock the red carpet, most likely in Dior.
Jennifer was named the face of the French fashion brand in 2012 and since then she's rarely graced an industry event in another designer. That's not to say she's been without her fashion missteps, who can forget the flouncy white gown she wore to the 2014 Golden Globes? The full-length strapless dress boasted two thin black belts around the waist and hips, leading to some unflattering comparisons to a coffee filter.
As she's grown up Jennifer has started to realise what works for her, most likely thanks to the influence of stylist duo Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson who both learnt their craft under Hollywood heavyweight Rachel Zoe. It's thanks to the pair that the actress has dipped her toe into a slightly edgier fashion pond over the last 12 months, as her glamorous roster of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 promotional outfits showed. She particularly upped the ante at a New York City screening of the movie in November (15), when she went full-on goth in a black lace number with plunging neckline, satin bra detailing and transparent sleeves. The look was Schiaparelli Couture, surprisingly, and was topped off with a slick of vampy burgundy lipstick. Fear not though, as the star was back in her signature Dior for the Golden Globe Awards in January (16), although again she mixed things up a little. The red dress had cut-outs on the sides and a floating top section - much more modern than the fairytale gowns we've seen her in before.
It seems Jennifer is finally coming into her fashion own, perhaps because she's at a stage where she knows what works for her body.
"I’ve got t*ts and an ass," she recently told Glamour magazine. "And there are things that are made for skinny people - like a lot of embroidery, or it covers a lot - and those make me look fat. I have to show the lumps.
"If you have boobs, you have to show, like, 'These are boobs. This isn’t cellulite...' Not that there’s anything wrong with that."
So what will Jennifer go for when the Oscars roll around on 28 February (16)? Dior seems the safe bet, and our money is on a bold colour rather than a pastel. Given her form this year we expect Jennifer to show off her svelte figure in something form-fitting too, although she won't flash too much flesh as that's considered vulgar for Hollywood's biggest annual event. We call a slim-fitting gown with an unexpected pop - whether that be in the jewellery, make-up, hair or a design feature of the gown itself remains to be seen.
