Jenny McCarthy is the latest celebrity to have experimented with a drastic new hair colour, swapping her blonde locks for a bright pink shade.

The 42-year-old model-and-actress has always had blonde locks. But on Tuesday, the mother-of-one unveiled her drastic new look after choosing a colourful shade for summer.

Jenny treated her nearly 475,000 followers on Instagram to a shot of her pink tresses.

And as she was interviewed on the Today show on Tuesday, Jenny explained the reasons behind her makeover to hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford: “This morning I woke up and I said, ‘I’m feeling pink’.”

Jenny’s bright look is thanks to stylist colourist Julius Michael.

While Jenny could have tested out a new shade with a wash out dye, she instead decided to bite the bullet and opted for a permanent dye.

But the star added she doesn’t regret making the decision because it has been something she has considered for some time.

“I’m very much about the present moment. This is something I’ve wanted to do forever, but I’ve always been told by networks and bosses, ‘Don’t do it.’" she said. “But you know what, before I’m 80 — like Barbara Walters isn’t going to dye her hair this colour! I’m still at that age where I can get away with it for like a month.”

Jenny’s fans were quick to voice their approval to the star after she posted her picture on Instagram.

And another person who is keen on the actress’ makeover is her 45-year-old husband Donnie Wahlberg.

“I showed him this morning quickly and he’s like, ‘You look beautiful’,” Jenny said.
