Jessica Simpson 'sweet' designer
Jessica Simpson is "one of the most warm, wonderful, sensitive" people despite her "billion dollar brand", says an emerging designer.
The songstress was a mentor on fashion reality show Fashion Star, alongside Nicole Richie and John Varvatos. The NBC show - which finished yesterday - spawned winner Kara Laricks a 38-year-old clothing designer from New York City.
The burgeoning star says Jessica was a joy to be around on the show, despite her initial reservations. "That's something that going in to the show [I questioned], I was like, 'Hmm... Jessica Simpson? This is going to be interesting.' But, having met her, she is one of the most warm, wonderful, sensitive, happy people," she told Stylelist.com.
"She has her billion dollar brand and she can have corn dogs if she wants. One day she was like, 'I smell corn dogs, you guys got them without me. Didn't you. You did it, I know it!' She's just a happy person."
Kara says Jessica's compliments disarmed her at times. She has joked the new mother was always encouraging, despite her odd wordings of things.
"Jessica says to me, 'You have such a cool, funky style and you pull off things I would never even think about, but you're pretty too!" And I was just like, 'That's so weird and awkward, but so sweet!'" she exclaimed.
The three capsule collections Kara designed as part of the show's final challenge are now being sold online by H&M, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue.
