Jim Carrey talks yellow Tom Ford tux
Jim Carrey has joked that Tom Ford stayed up all night sewing so he and his Dumb and Dumber To co-star Jeff Daniels could look good at the film’s premiere.
The actor and Jeff Daniels are reprising their roles as Lloyd and Harry respectively for the sequel to 1994’s Dumb and Dumber.
The premiere of the new flick took place in Los Angeles last night, with the actors attending in character. This meant wearing one-of-a-kind pieces, with Jim in a yellow tweed jacket and Jeff in a matching shiny powder-blue version. Both guys accessorised with white bow ties and smart black trousers, having had some help from acclaimed designer Tom.
“We called him up and said, ‘Hey, can you deck us out? Can we do the modern version of the old tux?’ He stayed up late at night sewing,” Jim joked to USA Today.
Jeff was just as thrilled with his unique look, admitting he couldn’t believe he was donning such a high fashion piece.
“We are wearing Tom Ford. I can’t believe we’re wearing Tom Ford. But Tom Ford wanted to try to class up the event,” he said.
Jeff and Jim weren’t the only stars to get a makeover for the evening. They arrived in the iconic sheepdog wagon from the first movie, which was spruced up and cleaned.
“It’s a special event, so it called for fur,” Jeff laughed of the van which was covered in the fake material.
The new film sees Lloyd and Harry setting off to find Harry’s long-lost daughter, who Lloyd falls in love with. Also at the premiere were the movie’s co-stars Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin and Kathleen Turner.
A Dumb and Dumber sequel has been mooted for years, with Jim explaining why the time finally felt right.
“It’s the reason why we did it really, is the fans. Neither of us are nuts about sequels. It was really about just being hounded constantly,” he said.
