JLo: Vegan diet boosted my energy
Jennifer Lopez found following a vegan diet was the key to losing the last of her baby weight.
The star is famous for her curvaceous derrière and washboard stomach, but after giving birth to twins Max and Emme in 2008 Jennifer admits she struggled to shift the weight she'd put on during pregnancy.
But after cutting out animal products from her diet the On the Floor singer was soon back to her toned best. She also noticed her energy levels shoot up.
“I’ll be honest with you guys, since I had the babies about six years ago, I had that really stubborn eight to ten pounds on me. People are used to seeing me be kind of thickish, but when I started eating [vegan], right away I dropped like eight to ten pounds. It was a real change, but more than that I felt better and people were like, ‘Your energy’s better’… everything’s better," Jennifer revealed to Extra.
While the 44-year-old Latino beauty has eased the diet slightly, she still mostly follows a vegan meal plan and encourages others to follow her lead.
“I did full vegan for almost four, five weeks, then I just started incorporating proteins for myself. The truth is, even if you’re 70 - 80 per cent vegan, it’s so much better having those vegetables, greens, plant-based stuff. It’s going to change your life and health," she enthused.
And it's not just her fans who Jennifer wants to join in on the animal-free diet, she's also got her six-year-olds involved in the action too.
"When I started doing this, I got the whole household on board. They won’t love everything right away - when you go from regular milk to almond milk or rice mike, it’s a big change - but little by little they get into it… sometimes my son will be like, ‘I want American cheese, I don’t like this vegan cheese,'" she laughed.
