John Malkovich: My range can be mixed

John Malkovich has teamed up with Yoox.com on a capsule collection of pieces that can be "mixed and matched" with ease.

The American actor-and-director has teamed up with Yoox.com on an exclusive 17 piece range.

The summer line comes under John's Technobohemian fashion label which he launched in 2009.

“This capsule collection for Yoox.com is based on both old and new sketches,” John said. “It includes summer clothes and accessories produced in the best factories across Italy. Some pieces are very colourful, others are more understated, but they all feature comfortable fits and are easy to mix and match.”

The items included are swimming trunks, T-shirts, Bermuda shorts and deconstructed jackets, along with a selection of accessories.

Yoox.com is the world’s leading virtual store for multi-brand fashion, design and art. John's line will go on sale on the website from tomorrow.

In a behind-the-scenes video, John shared his inspiration for the line.

His designs start with doodles he sketches while on film sets.

"I draw on the set, because on a movie set of course you have a lot of time waiting," he explained. "Rather than sit there and do nothing I prefer to work."

John explains more about his interest in fashion on his Technobohemian label website.

"I have always cultivated interest in fashion and I always loved it, I like the design, I like the details and for me it is simply another form of self-expression. Style is important. I try to convey through my creations. I try to do things in a personal way, in relation to this. Sometimes I draw inspiration from the cinema, sometimes I look at people on the street," he explained. "There is a strong correlation between the job of the designer and the actor who takes on different roles each time transforming itself. I like to experience the transformation even in the clothes we design, every transformation is basically a confirmation that we are constantly being born."
