Julianne Hough recalls dress disaster
Julianne Hough has spoken about some of her style hits and misses.
The singer-and-dancer received two prizes at the 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards and even though she's achieved a lot since then, it remains a career highlight. She just wishes her gown got the memo about how important the night was.
"That was one of the highlights of my life so far. I won top new artist and also top new female [vocalist]. I loved my dress. When I went to go receive my award, I hugged Jack Ingram and the dress popped, so I did the whole speech with a backless dress," she laughed to Allure magazine.
The star wore a gold beaded number by Zuhair Murad and unfortunately it's not the only moment when her look has let her down. Julianne is also horrified when she looks back at a getup she donned in Las Vegas in 2010. It included a black, skin-tight mini-dress, huge blonde hair and a deep, deep tan.
"What happened in the spray-tan booth?! Extensions, hussy outfit, and hussy shoes... what is this look?" she laughed. "We were going clubbing. I got a spray tan, and I came out and I said, 'I'm gonna just keep it on because I want it to settle - I won't shower.' It just kept developing, getting darker and darker."
Other misses come in the form of a 2007 professional photo Julianne had taken, in which she matched her eyeshadow to her bright blue, sequinned dance costume. She also regrets a similarly-coloured two-piece she wore when performing alongside Cody Linley on Dancing with the Stars in 2008, because she put a tan bodysuit under it which wasn't too flattering.
She's not above rocking her own style though, explaining there is one recurring piece in her wardrobe she'll never get over.
"I have seven pairs of overalls. They remind me of my childhood, and they're really comfortable. They're starting to get really stylish - they're coming back," she laughed.
