Julien Macdonald setting up bespoke service
Julien Macdonald is launching a bespoke service.
The Welsh designer is in the process of creating a made-to-measure service which will be called Julien Macdonald Bespoke. An in-house atelier will help make the one-off gowns for customers.
"I'm really excited about setting up the atelier," the designer told WWD. "I've always tried to source UK fabrics and use UK manufacturers for my [ready-to-wear] collections, so having a dedicated in-house atelier to produce made-in-Britain pieces for my clients is a dream come true. Working closely with a client to create a special outfit is so much fun, and I love the idea of being able to do more of that."
The service will operate out of the label's current headquarters on the exclusive Savile Road street in London.
Julien has previously worked as the chief designer at Givenchy but now concentrates on his own eponymous label.
He's famed for creating eye-catching pieces which are often covered in sequins and quite revealing. Stars to wear his creations include Geri Halliwell, Naomi Campbell, Selena Gomez and Beyoncé Knowles.
