Kanye clothing fears?
Kanye West's new clothing line plans have reportedly caused concern in fashion circles.
The rapper made appearances during New York Fashion Week earlier this month ahead of launching his own collection. Sitting front row at shows including Diesel Black Gold, Alexander Wang and Hood by Air, the star was seen concentrating hard on what came down the runway.
However, it's been suggested his interest caused worry among some fashion professionals.
“It was something that was discussed [by designers] beforehand - ‘Do we let him in and risk our ideas being sold off by him?'" a source told New York Daily News' Confidenti@l column.
“He is there because he is coming out with a new clothing line and is desperate for ideas on what’s hot."
Kanye is looking to form a team from potential employees on Linkedln to help kick off his currently unnamed his business. It was only last week the venture advertised for a vice president of production and a chief financial officer on the business-oriented social networking site.
“Unlike those in which celebrities merely lend their name to a label, this venture will have the star power of Mr. West’s artistic vision at the heart and soul of it,” the advertisements read.
Former chief operating officer for lingerie giant Victoria Secret's PINK line Richard Dent III is said to be the main man backing Kanye's upcoming line.
This collection comes after the hip-hop star launched his namesake label in 2011 and he recently joined forces with A.P.C. to create a menswear line for the French label which quickly sold out.
Amid these rumours Kanye was adamant to speak about the speculation, shouting "Don't ask me questions!" when quizzed by New York Daily News last week.
