Kanye slams style snobbery

Kanye West thinks the fashion world is full of too much "snobbery".

The rapper has been trying to launch his own fashion line and recently attended several shows during New York and Paris Fashion week.

However, it was rumoured designers are wary that Kanye was looking at their designs for inspiration and were hesitant to let them into their events.

The musician believes their reluctance to collaborate with him is because they are too "snobby" and judge his lifestyle, including his reality star girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Talking to chat show host Jimmy Kimmel Kanye explained his views on the fashion world.

"Fashion isn't always practical. It's more about emotion, it's more about swag. Currently in fashion, there's no black guy at the end of the runway in all honesty. Who do you know who's more known for clothes than me?" he complained. "It's like, how can you get a shot. No real designers will work with a rapper. It's not about racism anymore, it's classism. Classism is what they try to do when they say, 'You're a rapper, your girl's a reality star...' It's snobbery and I'm not into snobbery. All we want to do is make awesome stuff."

He continued to reveal how those around him suggest he should stick to just music. Despite these recommendations Kanye is determined to follow his fashion dream and credits his mother for inspiring him when growing up.

"A lot of people say, 'You have to do music.' I'm gonna keep doing music..." he explained. "I'm only 36 years old, I have other dreams. My mother made me believe in myself. I refuse to follow those rules that society set up. It's about truth, it's about information, it's about awesomeness. The only luxury is time."
