Kanye unconcerned by Barneys claims
Kanye West was spotted at Barneys yesterday, meaning he hasn't been put off by recent allegations made against the store.
The store received criticism after two African-American customers were reportedly detained by police after making expensive purchases.
Despite the ruckus, it seems the rapper hasn't been put off buying anything at Barneys as he was spotted heading to the New York shop yesterday afternoon, according to the New York Post.
On Tuesday a review took a look at the claims, with a San Francisco attorney eventually deciding Barneys employees didn't “request, require, nor initiate" any police action against the two customers.
The two consumers in question had claimed they were wrongly accused of credit card fraud by the store.
Jay Z recently revealed he will go forward with his Barneys collaboration despite the incident.
The musician's BNY SCC Gallery and Collection launch seemed under question after the allegations, but it didn't seem to deter the star.
"I have agreed to move forward with the launch of BNY SCC collection under the condition that I have a leadership role and seat on a council specifically convened to deal with the issue of racial profiling," he wrote in a statement on his website.
"I am in a unique position to use my voice to affect change to this disturbing issue. The easy position would have been to walk away and leave policy making to others hoping that someone addresses the problem. I will not leave the outcome to others. I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward. I am choosing to take this head on.”
