Kanye West did not impress some peers with his sophomore fashion outing and leading rag trade critic Cathy Horyn thinks those who support his clothing designs are “fools”.

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Leading fashion critic Cathy Horyn thinks only “fools” take Kanye West seriously as a designer.

The 38-year-old musician debuted his sophomore Yeezy collection on Wednesday, showing off the pieces in a runway show as part of New York Fashion Week.

And well-respected rag trade reviewer Cathy felt “embarrassed” to attend Kanye’s showing.

“Yeezy Season 2 was kind of amusing. Again, West worked with the performance artist Vanessa Beecroft, and again, he showed hoodies, baggy pants, and beige under-things, as if time these past six months had stood still,” Cathy wrote in a piece for New York Magazine’s The Cut entitled Kanye West Is Fooling the Fashion World. “Those models exited and another batch came out, now dressed in woebegone fatigue jackets and pants, and, I might add, looking rather downcast. They made me think of POWs. The military conceit was apt, given the mind-lock that Kanye has managed to put on the fashion world.”

A number of A-listers attended Kanye’s show, including American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, fashion designer Riccardo Tisci and Courtney Love.

And Cathy thinks it’s laughable he’s receiving so much attention for his apparel efforts.

“This second round of drab, broken-down basics proved he can’t be taken seriously as a designer, but nevertheless many people in fashion do seem to take West seriously — they keep showing up expectantly for his performances — and that makes them fools,” she insisted. “Because they wouldn’t bother with this stuff if it were offered by an unknown, and if it’s the spectacle they seek, it changes as little as the clothes.”

Kanye’s hip hop peer Ice-T was also unimpressed with the clothing.

“Kanye's fashion show stuff looks like future Slave gear to me... Just sayin (sic),” Ice-T wrote on his Twitter account Thursday.
