Kate Bosworth: I wasn't trendy

Kate Bosworth was an unfashionable teenager.

The American actress and Calvin Klein model never used to be as "style-conscious" as she is today. The 29-year-old used to wear clothes for comfort rather than because they were on trend.

"When I was 16, I wasn't style- conscious at all," Kate revealed to InStyle magazine. "I wore a lot of J Crew and Gap when they weren't nearly as cool as they are now."

The style icon thinks teenagers in London, UK, are more fashion focused than those elsewhere in the world. Kate finds it fascinating to witness young girls in the British capital wearing on-trend outfits despite their young age.

"Recently I popped to London's Oxford Street on a Saturday afternoon," Kate explained. "The thing that struck me was how unbelievably trendy all the young girls walking down the street were. The people-watching there is amazing."

Since her teenage years Kate has developed her own distinct style, helping her land the role as spokesperson for Coach. She has also turned her hand to fashion design, launching her own jewellery line with her friend and stylist Cher Coulter in 2010.
