Katy Perry big on make-up

Katy Perry's make-up artist Todd Delano has opened up about working with the singer.

The 29-year-old singer often pulls off bold looks with her cosmetics, especially while on tour. Todd Delano is currently travelling with Katy as part of her Prismatic tour, and the beauty expert enjoys how involved she gets behind the scenes.

"It's very collaborative. Katy loves to have fun with her make-up, and she is always willing to experiment with new looks. We work together to create her beauty look," he told Refinery29.

"We're inspired by Old Hollywood, Fashion Week trends, Tumblr, '90s fashion spreads, and pop culture. There isn't one source."

It isn't just her make-up which the musician likes to mix up. Katy has also boasted an array of hairstyles over the years, from a sleek black bob to her current slime green do. Todd takes her tresses into account when decorating the star's face.

"For the most part, the make-up doesn't change that drastically with her hair colour," he added. "I will sometimes adjust the brows to be a bit lighter when I fill them in. It's fun to play off the hair colour when picking lip and eye colours to draw the whole look together."

Katy is daring with her style, choosing flamboyant ensembles for when she takes to the stage. Todd has a favourite beauty look which he creates for the popstar to ensure it goes with all her quirky outfits.

"I love her looks that involve a classic winged liner and fresh, dewy skin, accented, of course, with prismatic glitter," he smiled. "She has a lot of wig and costume changes, so we wanted to make sure to complement all of the looks rather than compete."
