Katy Perry dons army garb for promo
Katy Perry has revealed her tough side in army gear for her upcoming promo.
The singer has ditched her usual glamorous attire to get down and dirty for the Part of Me music video, which premieres next Wednesday.
Katy gave fans a taste of the video Friday on her Twitter account with a short trailer showing the singer decked out in a green military uniform and camouflage make-up.
"That was THEN & this is NOW: Sneak peek of my NEW VIDEO for #PARTOFME. IN FULL EFFECT 3.21.12. RT!," she wrote alongside a link to the trailer.
In the footage, Katy is seen training for battle along with a group of militants.
The video was filmed at the Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, according to Perez Hilton. The trailer comes after a photo of the star in army gear was posted on websites promoting the track's video.
Katy recently performed Part of Me at the Grammys and it has been rising in the music charts ever since. The lyrics share the pain of a break-up and the single was released amid her public split with husband Russell Brand.
"You chewed me up and spit me out Like I was poison in your mouth," the lyrics say.
"You took my light, you drained me down. That was then and this is now. Now look at me.
This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me...Throw your sticks and stones Throw your bombs and your blows But you're not gonna break my soul."
The gritty couture she wears for the new video is worlds apart from her typical girly style. The singer is known for her quirky fashions having graced many red carpets in bright feminine frocks.
