Katy Perry's steamy tips

Katy Perry uses steam rooms to help her voice but also loves the effect they have on her skin.

The singer is on the road a lot thanks to her successful career and sell-out shows. She still makes time to take care of her appearance and is willing to get creative if she doesn't have professional help at hand.

"I spend a lot of time in the steam room," she said, explaining her clear complexion to the latest edition of British InStyle magazine.

"Steaming is really important for my voice, and the added benefit is that it's wonderful for my skin. And the great thing is, if you can't get to a spa, you can do it yourself at home with a bowl of hot water."

The 29-year-old Roar singer is known for her extravagant stage outfits and has been delighting fans with them as part of her Prismatic World Tour. Katy revealed what makes her feel confident when she knows she has to perform for crowds of thousands.

"Make-up - a lot of it!" she laughed. "And with my clothes, I like to strike the balance between sexy and empowered.

"I like to highlight one asset - today that would be my legs because I've been working on them for eight weeks! - rather than letting it all hang out. It's nice to leave a little to the imagination."

Katy added that although she will turn 30 in October she still feels 13 and wants to continue having fun with her costumes. She also feels there should be "no rules" when it comes to wearing bright shades.

The pretty brunette is also making her mark on the beauty world with her perfume range and has previously said she'd like to branch out even further with a nail polish line.
