Kristen Bell gets annoyed that people who have an interest in fashion or beauty are often considered to have a "diminished" intellect.

Kristen Bell believes in "authentic honesty" when it comes to sharing the secrets behind her flawless red carpet looks.

The 36-year-old actress wore a stunning Zuhair Murad gown to the Emmy Awards in September (16), topping countless best dressed lists in the process.

The floral dress featured a plunging neckline, which meant Kristen had to employ some unusual techniques to ensure everything stayed in place.

Following the ceremony, Kristen took to Instagram to share that she had taped her nipple to her shoulder to give herself an instant "nip lift" and secure the gown to her torso.

And now, opening up about the reasons for posting the secret behind her Emmy appearance, Kristen explained to The Edit that she always wants to be honest with fans when it comes to how she achieves her finished looks.

"For the Emmys, I wore this beautiful dress and you couldn’t wear a bra, and I took Leukoflex tape (surgical tape) and I taped my nipple to my shoulder. It was beautiful, the image was beautiful," she said.

"And then I thought, I really believe in authentic honesty. I’m going to put this on social media. And I posted a picture and I circled my nipple and I said, 'This is now up here. Thank you Leukoflex.' I got so many questions about it. Which, to be honest, I was very happy to answer."

Kristen has no regrets about the headline-grabbing post, adding: "What I chose to do at the time was to be very honest and open about it."

The Frozen star took part in a filmed debate for Net-A-Porter's digital magazine alongside Cynthia Nixon, Tracee Ellis Ross and Michelle Monaghan, as the group discussed the world's obsession with superficiality.

Kristen also revealed she isn't ashamed to speak about her love of all things fashion, but is keen to do her bit to change the way society views women who do have this interest.

"An interest or fashion or beauty does not need to diminish one’s intellect at all," she added. "But again, it’s the talking about all these issues that fixes them."
