Kristen Stewart's clothes match personality

Kristen Stewart's stylist Tara Swennen believes the secret to dressing well is to match clothes to your personality.

Celebrity dresser Tara Swennen has opened up about the Twilight star's looks.

Tara adopts the same method for all her famous clients, including Mila Kunis and Miley Cyrus, which is to match their wardrobe with their personality.

"My philosophy is all about letting a client's personality shine through their looks, so I incorporate trends that fit not only their figures, but also their attitudes," she told Refinery 29.

"I think they [functionality and wow factor] go hand-in-hand if you play your cards right! The key is making the person feel beautiful, and then they will shine!"

Tara is widely regarded as one of the top Los Angeles-based stylists. She knew she'd made it when she worked for Oprah Winfrey at the start of her career.

"When I styled a fashion show for Oprah and her producer came to me and said, 'Please don't be upset if she sends the models back and asks you to change everything. In 21 years of this I have never seen anyone not go through it,'" she laughed. "Then the models came back, and no changes needed. I had been the first!"

Tara is known for her fearless attitude when it comes to dressing her clients for red carpet events. Kristen's outfit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala this year was labelled by some as a risk.

The star eschewed the usual choice of a dress and went for a jumpsuit instead, which Tara has previously described as being her "girl power moment".

"With Kristen, we went over the sketches via email - and it was unanimous decision that we really liked the jumpsuit," Tara told Stylecaster.com previously. "Kristen went back and forth between the red and the green - and we just decided we loved [the cranberry red]. Her hair is a little bit reddish right now, so we thought it would complement it well."
