Lena Dunham loves Sophie Buhai's jewellery line because the earrings make her feel "like the s**t kicking teen I dreamed of becoming".

Lena Dunham has praised Sophie Buhai's jewellery line for being "so fresh".

The Girls creator has been close friends with Sophie since modelling for her Vena Cava clothing line back in 2011. After selling the company in 2014, Sophie went on to create her own lifestyle and jewellery range - of which Lena is a massive fan.

Alongside a snap of herself wearing a huge pair of silver earrings from the line, Lena wrote on her Instagram page on Monday (18Jan16): "My girl @sophiebuhai keeps it so fresh with her jewelry line. These earrings make me feel like the s**t kicking teen I dreamed of becoming/like the old woman in hemp pants I prematurely am (sic)."

Sophie's collection ranges in price from $250 for a small hair barrette to $1,200 for a stylish arm cuff.

After selling Vena Cava, Sophie took a "massive break" before realising she could turn her passion for jewellery into a full time job.

"I took almost a year off," she told "I started messing around making jewellery and then I was kind of like, ‘Oh, this is really fun. I should maybe think about how I can turn this into a business and make it a job.’ So I launched my collection, which I sell from my own website and also wholesale to specialty boutiques, like The Line, but also the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum and the Cooper Hewitt because I’m into museum women. I’m into old art lady style. I hope Georgia would have worn my jewellery if she were still alive. Maybe if I was cool enough to cross paths with her."

Back in 2011, when Sophie and Vena Cava co-creator Lisa Mayock enlisted the help of Lena to model in their photo series Vena Cava Friends, Lena was still a relative unknown, but was beginning to make a name for herself thanks to her 2010 movie Tiny Furniture.

Telling Interview magazine how they approached Lena about participating, Sophie said: "We saw her movie and thought she was hilarious, cool, and a great female role model. We were so nervous emailing her. Totally starstruck. We told her we loved her movie and asked if she wanted to collaborate, and she responded immediately."
