Lily Collins feels freer since chopping off her long locks, which at one point even reached her bellybutton.

The actress is known for her full brows and now her choppy chin-length bob, which she debuted in 2013.

It signified a new chapter for the 26-year-old, who seemingly shed some hang-ups along with her hair.

"I used to have hair past my bellybutton, then it got progressively shorter until I finally chopped it," she explained to the British edition of Glamour magazine.

"It's very much where I'm at personally right now, wanting to feel a bit freer. Now that it's off my shoulders, I can just ruffle it and get out the door."

While many celebrities rely on make-up artists at all times, Lily is happy to take matters into her own hands. One of these occasions was the Golden Globes party she attended earlier this year.

"I do my own make-up for small events," she explained. "I've picked up so many tips from having my make-up done. I don't like to spend a lot of time on it - that's why lipstick is great, it's super-fast.

"For the Golden Globes party, I did a dark lip using just lipstick and fixing the edges with a cotton bud, not lipliner - I don't really know what to do with them."

Lily added she was initially wary of lip products as her pout is quite full, but when her make-up artist tried it she was hooked.
