Lily Collins: My mother taught me style

Lily Collins got her "fashion confidence" from her mother.

The British actress is the daughter of drummer Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman. The stunning star says her stylish mom is the reason she has such an interest in fashion.

"I grew up with my mum wearing Vivienne Westwood and Yohji Yamamoto and mixing in all this really crazy vintage stuff," she told ASOS magazine.

"She would take me round car boot sales in my stroller, and would wear vintage on the red carpets, rocking it out. That's where I got my fashion confidence."

Lily is a self-confessed vintage fan, and loves nothing more than to invest in second-hand items. The 22-year-old star, who was famously chosen by Chanel bosses to wear one of the luxury label's gowns at the prestigious 2007 Bal des Débutantes in Paris, sticks to garments that suit her, rather than fad fashions.

"I'm not into fads, or what's in right now. It's what I feel good in, and what I am going to feel good in for a few years," she said.
