Lily Collins 'steams' hair
Lily Collins steams her hair in a shower cap to ensure it always looks its best.
The actress is a chameleon when it comes to her tresses. Although she keeps her brunette hair the same shade, she always tries out different styles when attending premieres.
Her hairdresser Mara Roszak has opened up about the tips she has shared with the 24-year-old star.
“I always recommend using a deep conditioner at least once a week. I like putting conditioner on the hair, covering it with a shower cap while in the shower, and letting it stem for about ten minutes, then rinsing,” Mara told beautyhigh.com.
Lily has been promoting her movie The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, in which she portrays Clary Fray, lately. She attended the Berlin premiere last month, opting for black crop top by Paper London and a fishtail black maxi skirt by Halston.
The actress’ hair gave a nod to the ‘60s, with the top backcombed into a mini beehive and then tied into a bun at the back.
Mara always takes the star’s clothes into account before working on her hair, and this time around wanted something sophisticated to match her chic outfit.
Initially she spritzed with hairspray, before getting to work with her styling implements.
“I blew dry her hair off her face and set in Velcro rollers for extra volume. Once the hair was set in the rollers for a few minutes, I sprayed strong hold hairspray all over, adding a bit of texture and hold to her hair. Because this style is all about the volume, I gently backcombed thought the whole head, then smoothed over the top layer for a soft look,” she explained.
“I pulled the hair loosely back into a low ponytail, then again back combed the pony to create cushion for the bun. With a bristle brush, I smoothed over the top of the ponytail, then tucked the ends under and pinned in place, creating a looped bun.”
