Lindsey Wixson: Models must be tough
Lindsey Wixson says modelling is like being a "warrior".
The 17-year-old has graced the catwalk for some of the biggest designers around, including John Galliano, Versace and Alexander McQueen.
In one day she completed shows for Rodarte, Oscar de la Renta and Tory Burch, as well as shooting with UK Vogue. She has shattered afterwards, and wants people to know how tiring her job can be.
"I felt like a warrior at the end of the day with how much I had gotten done," she laughed. "It's overwhelming sometimes, very stressful."
Lindsey now tries to only do two shows in one day. She has a unique way of working out whether she is working too much.
"I measure the amount of shows I should do by my hair," she told British newspaper The Telegraph. "If my hair isn't good for campaigns and editorials, then obviously I am not going to look good."
As well as being known for her gap-tooth smile, Lindsey is renowned for her mishaps on the catwalk. She fell over three times while strutting her stuff during a Fashion for Relief show in July, but doesn't let it get her down.
"It's on YouTube - it's a big hit!" she laughed.
More recently, she fell while walking at Milan Fashion Week. She was striding for Versace and had been put in six inch heels. The model is 5ft. 8in. tall, part of the reason she is often asked to wear towering shoes.
"I think the adrenaline kicked in and I just finished. I don't know how I did it," she admitted, explaining she went to hospital the following day.
"They wrapped my ankle and said that I couldn't take the bandages off for ten days and that I had to ice it three times a day."
