Longoria: Staying slim is tough!
Eva Longoria says staying in shape is proving to be even harder as she gets older.
The stunning Latina actress turned 40 last weekend. And while she is famous for her toned body, she admits that maintaining such a slim figure has been incredibly difficult.
“Staying in shape does not come easily, especially as you get older and you don’t have as much time or energy to exercise,” Eva told Glam Belleza Latina magazine. “I used to be naturally skinny in high school and college. I was in cheerleading, ran track and did gymnastics, so I had a built-in five-hour workout every day. Lately, I’ve been doing Pilates on the Megaformer, which is like Pilates on steroids. My nutritionist friend Claudia Zapata recommended it, and now I’m addicted.”
Eva also opened up in the interview about her hair and makeup routine. The former Desperate Housewives actress rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to her mane, but Eva admits it’s more to do with her genetic history than her own styling skills.
“Honestly, I’m just blessed because I’m Mexican,” Eva laughed. “Mexican Americans have amazing hair! Kenny [Eva’s stylist Ken Paves] always says to me, ‘Geez, everybody comes in asking what extensions do you have in, and I say, ‘No, she’s Mexican. That’s her hair.’ ”
As well as her luscious locks, Eva always boasts a flawless complexion. And again, she says it’s as much to do with her heritage as her skincare regime.
“Part of it is genetics, obviously, but it’s also maintenance,” Eva said. “I get facials all the time—painful ones that usually involve some sort of stinging peel, drying mask and laser light.”
