Lucy Hale: Ditch your hair rut!

Lucy Hale thinks getting haircuts can be addictive.

The Pretty Little Liars actress is known for her long brown hair on the show, in which she plays Aria Montgomery.

Towards the end of last year the 25-year-old chopped her hair, which she previously admitted was like a "security blanket", into a shoulder-length style. But in January she went even further, opting for a chin-length bob.

"I knew it was time to break out and try something new," she admits in a column for beauty website Byrdie.

"[Hairstylist] Scott[y] Cunha did my very first cut back in November while we were on a trip in Nashville. I wasn’t necessarily planning it when we went on the trip, but we were nearing the Pretty Little Liars filming hiatus, so the timing just worked out well. When Scotty cut my hair that first time, it was more of a medium-length cut, so it wasn’t a drastic change all at once. But getting your hair cut short can be addicting!"

Having short hair has meant some adjustments to her beauty routine, with Lucy having to work harder to get texture and curl now. She relies on a lot of volumising products and tries to give her locks a break by not washing them daily.

Another thing that took some getting used to was no longer being able to wear her hair up in a bun or ponytail.

The Pretty Little Liars stars - which also include Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Troian Bellisario - have previously spoken about the amount of fake lashes and hair used on the show, assuring fans they get a lot of help looking so gorgeous.

"We’re just getting ready to start filming Pretty Little Liars again, so I may get the chance to wear some extensions as my character, Aria, which could be the best of both worlds!" Lucy grinned.
