Lupita: Comfort over style

Lupita Nyong'o finds it a "challenge" to pull off some dresses.

The 30-year-old actress has soared into the spotlight following her role as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave. With her new found fame come many star-studded events, which require her to dress up.

One of these was a LoveGold event held in her honour earlier this week. When asked whether she is a comfort or fashion girl, Lupita admitted she isn't a fan of wearing painful pieces.

“Definitely comfort. I don’t like to suffer for fashion,” she told People. “I kick off my shoes as soon as I can. That’s definitely the first thing I do. I think you have to figure it out depending on what you’re wearing. Because different dresses come with different challenges.”

At the event Lupita looked stunning in a blue Stella McCartney dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Make-up artist Nick Barose tended to the actress' face, adding Lancôme Art Liner in the shade Sapphire and YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in the red tone Le Rouge.

While she always manages to look good, Lupita credits her style team for helping her look her best.

"Being with my glam squad [is my favourite part of getting ready for an event],” she added. “I really just enjoy that time. We just listen to music and dance sometimes and we crack some jokes and, you know, we get the glam on!”

It isn't just her fabulous taste in clothing Lupita is known for. Her cropped hairstyle has inspired women everywhere, but she admits she didn't always love her iconic 'do.

"I had longer hair which was relaxed for most of my adolescence but I cut my hair when I was 19 because I just got tired of all the effort it took... and how much time I was spending at the salon," she previously admitted to Britain's Pride magazine.

"The time it took for me to just leave the house and look presentable was too long and I wanted more time to get stuff done."
