Lupita Nyong'o loved lipstick commercial

Lupita Nyong'o found shooting her Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge commercial joyful.

The 31-year-old stars in the new adverts for beauty giant Lancôme's L'Absolu Rouge lipstick. In a behind-the-scenes promo released alongside the campaign, she reveals what it was like to be shot by the dynamic photographer duo.

“Working with Mert and Marcus was a lot of fun. They were very precise, very specific about what they wanted, but they did it with such a joy,” she smiled.

In the ad, Lupita looks flawless as she reclines on her side, propping her head up with one hand. She wears the stunning red-pink lipstick and a fuchsia halter-neck dress to match, with classic diamond studs adorning her earlobes.

“Make-up for me is like the frame of an art piece. Wearing lipstick makes me feel well-dressed," she explained.

She added that if lipstick could be a best friend, she would definitely pick L'Absolu Rouge.

Since appearing in 12 Years a Slave, which bagged her an Oscar at this year's ceremony, Lupita has become a global style icon. She was voted People magazine's most beautiful woman for 2014 but still doesn't think feeling beautiful is easy for many black women.

"European standards of beauty are something that plague the entire world – the idea that darker skin is not beautiful, that light skin is the key to success and love. Africa is no exception," she said to Glamour magazine.

"When I was in second grade, one of my teachers said, 'Where are you going to find a husband? How are you going to find someone darker than you?' I was mortified.

"I remember seeing a commercial where a woman goes for an interview and doesn't get the job. Then she puts a cream on her face to lighten her skin, and she gets the job! This is the message: that dark skin is unacceptable."
