Lupita Nyong'o perfect in Prada
Lupita Nyong'o looked like winning material in a Prada gown at the 2014 Academy Awards last night.
The 31-year-old actress graced the red carpet in Los Angeles wearing a gorgeous plunging gown by Prada.
While there were no embellishments or patterns, the way it fell to the floor gave the dress a dramatic feel. To keep all attention on her attire, Lupita didn't wear any jewellery around her neck or on her wrists and simply added a small gold ring with a similar blue pattern on it.
Her ears were decorated with sparkling earrings and a simple headband completed her chic hairstyle. The star won the Actress in a Supporting Role Award during the ceremony for her portrayal of Patsey in 12 Years a Slave.
Speaking about her choice of gown, Lupita shared why she chose the particular shade.
"Blue reminds me of home, of Nairobi... I wanted to have a feeling of home tonight and champagne bubbles," she told AP Live.
The winner of Best Actress in a Leading Role, Cate Blanchett, also looked stunning at the event. The Australian beauty dazzled in an off-white Armani Privé Fall 2013 gown, which was covered in Swarovski jewels.
Cate completed her glamorous look with Chopard jewellery and Roger Vivier shoes. Her blonde locks were worn down and styled into ringlets, while her make-up was natural with a spot of mascara and nude lipstick.
Sandra Bullock may have missed out on her award to Cate, but she was definitely a winner in the dress department. The brunette beauty stunned in a navy Alexander McQueen gown, which featured a heart neckline and draping material that fell to the ground.
Her Lorraine Schwartz earrings and bracelet livened the outfit up, while her classic curls-to-the-side hairdo complemented the gown.
Other actresses who stole the spotlight were Jennifer Lawrence in a red Dior dress, Angelina Jolie in a sheer and shimmering Elie Saab gown and Emma Watson in a silver and black Vera Wang number.
