Lupita Nyong’o shares Lancôme secrets
Lupita Nyong’o's Lancôme palette reminds her of her childhood.
The stunning actress is Lancôme’s celebrity ambassador and helped design the Jacaranda palette.
She wore the shades to the Golden Globes last Sunday, where she was the talk of the night in her beautiful floral Giambattista Valli gown.
“So for the #goldenglobes, I wore this new @lancomeusa "Jacaranda Bloom" #eyeshadow. The super-talented Nick Barose designed the palette, and I named it. Jacaranda Bloom because it immediately reminded me of growing up with the Jacaranda trees that lined the field hockey pitches of my elementary school,” she wrote on Instagram.
“In February the purple leaves would rain onto the red soiled field and create a beautiful and delicate purple trimming around it. The earth tones and the purple created an unforgettable image. #goldenglobes @dilokritbarose (sic)”
Lupita attached a picture of her hands holding the eyeshadow compact, with her eyes visible in the mirror’s reflection.
The 31-year-old’s collaboration with the beauty brand, which was announced last April, marked Lancôme’s first ever black ambassador. She’s since appeared in its L'Absolu Rouge lipstick adverts.
"I am particularly proud to represent [Lancôme’s] unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself," the 12 Years a Slave star said in a statement after the announcement last year.
Since appearing in the film, which bagged her an Oscar at last year's ceremony, Lupita has become a global style icon. She was also voted People magazine's most beautiful woman for 2014.
