Lupita Nyong'o's stylist, Micaela Erlanger, knew she had to pull out all the stops for the actress' outfit at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Lupita Nyong'o's outfit at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere was the perfect mixture of "galactic and glamorous", according to her stylist.

Micaela Erlanger has been working with the 32-year-old actress to come up with ensembles for the press tour for the highly-anticipated movie. But it was the outfit for the recent world premiere of the film in Los Angeles that Micaela knew she absolutely had to get right.

“When I think of Star Wars, one of the biggest and most important film franchises of all time, the pressure is certainly on,” Micaela told Vogue.com. “We knew that we wanted to push the envelope and really go for a gown that had not only the ‘wow’ factor, but felt appropriate for the theme of the film.”

After looking at hundreds of different options, Micaela and Lupita eventually decided on a silver and green Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown. The dress featured crystals to make it sparkle and black banding on the waist to highlight Lupita's slender figure.

"It was a little bit galactic in feel and a whole lot of glamorous," Micaela added.

"When I saw this gown, I knew it would be a contender—the encrusted crystals, the strong shoulder, the banding at the waist. It just had all the right factors. I knew it would be flawless on her.”

For the rest of her look, Lupita kept things simple and went for an Edie Parker small clutch bag and a few sparklers from Chopard. But Micaela is a strong believer in the fact that accessories should complement an outfit rather than make it.

“My direction for her wardrobe for the tour has been all about subtle edge,” she said. “I believe accessories should punctuate an outfit.”

As Lupita continues to promote the film, with the next stop being London, England, Micaela is hoping to continue her winning streak. But more important to the stylist than hitting the best-dressed list is that Lupita is happy with her look.

"Seeing your client happy and confident. For me, that is the single most important and rewarding part of styling for the red carpet," she said.
