Madonna creating footwear
Madonna will bring her "very feminine perspective" to her new shoe line.
The pop superstar is branching out in the fashion world by launching a range of footwear under the new Truth or Dare label.
The new shoe collection will hit stores in time for the fall 12 season and will be produced by Aldo Group Inc.
Madonna's long-time stylist, Arianne Phillips, will serve as the creative consultant on the line. The fashion expert says Madonna's dance-inspired input will make for an impressive shoe range.
"Her fingers are really on this brand. The first thing I did was remind her of all the shoes she wore over the years, and we took the styles that we can't live without. You can always depend on her to bring her style and provocateur quality, but she also has a very feminine perspective," she told WWD's Footwear News.
The range will be made up of more than 60 varying styles. Flats, killer heels and boots will all be included in the line, and are set to retail between $89 and $349.
Select venues will feature the new shoe collection, including luxury UK department store Selfridges. They will create a pop-up shop promoting Madonna's new Truth or Dare brand.
The shoes will also debut at The Bay in Canada.
Deanna Williams, a spokesperson for Macy's, says retailers should be thrilled about Madonna's newest style offering.
"We think our customer will be excited about this line because it's by such an iconic and innovative creative such as Madonna," Deanna gushed.
Madonna and her teenage daughter Lourdes launched clothing collection Material Girl in 2010. Truth or Dare is part of Madonna's new lifestyle brand, which includes her debut fragrance, accessories, footwear, handbags and intimates.
The brand will be aimed at women aged 27 to 50.
