Maggie Gyllenhaal: My eldest is so stylish
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s eldest daughter “has a lot of style”.
The Oscar nominated actress recently spent time in London for work. While in the English capital, she wanted to get something to impress her children, particularly her eldest daughter Ramona.
“I was thinking of getting both my girls some Doc Martens because it seems so English and my elder daughter has a lot of style,” Maggie explained to British magazine Stylist. “I was just talking to her on the phone and I said, ‘Remember those shoes? You didn’t want them then but do you want them now?’ She was like, ‘No, I want something from Portobello Road.’”
As well as Ramona, seven, Maggie also has two-year-old daughter Gloria with husband and fellow actor Peter Sarsgaard. While Maggie regularly goes for feminine prints and styles, Ramona doesn’t seem to be a typical girly girl.
“[She] loved Portobello Road, so we went there a lot,” Maggie continued. “She is a little punk. She hates pink and really likes black. I think it’s more that she doesn’t know the punk reference of Doc Martens yet.”
With two children and a busy career to manage, the 36-year-old admits that she hasn’t got time to everything she would like to. For Maggie, the first thing to go is her fitness regime.
“Exercise goes out of the window as well. I can’t be a mother, work and exercise,” she laughed.
It’s an exciting time for Maggie in her career, as she is due to make her debut on Broadway in October alongside Ewan McGregor. The Secretary star will appear in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of The Real Thing, according to Playbill. The outlet reported in February that previews of the Tom Stoppard play will begin October 2.
