Pop songstress Mariah Carey has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics on a lipstick hue and a Beauty Icon collection.

The Glitter star is considered to be one of the most glamorous women in Hollywood and she has applied her feminine beauty sense to a glimmery nude lipstick called All I Want for MAC, which reaches shelves in December (15).

Mariah does not find traditional Christmas lipstick shades appealing, a turn-off that influenced the creative process behind her product All I Want.

“Well I’ve always loved the frosty lip for Winter, because I think it blends in with the tone of the season,” she explained to POPSUGAR. “Even growing up, [the shade is] something that I would gravitate towards. I don’t look good in a red lip, and I wanted to be able to wear the colour. I know a lot of people who don’t care for red lipstick, either. We ended up going with this really beautiful champagne shimmer.”

Mariah is made up of several different ethnicities, as her mother is Caucasian while her father is of African American and Venezuelan descent.

Her multiracial heritage impacted her decision to collaborate with MAC.

“MAC is great because it’s an inclusive brand,” she explained. “They have a long history of diverse collaborations, and I’m a different-looking person. When I say different, I mean I’m an ambiguous-looking person. Most people have a difficult time being like, ‘What is she?’ This is going to be something that a lot of different people will be able to feel like they can wear, and it will look good on them because I kept that in mind when we were working on it.”

Mariah believes makeup hunting can be a challenge for multiracial people.

She thinks it’s best to remain true to an authentic hue while selecting product.

“Stay closest to your natural colour of your skin because we range in colour, us biracial women,” Mariah said. “I would just say: be yourself and go with the colours that really work for you. It’s really hard to just lump all biracial people into one category because some of us have light eyes, some of us have dark eyes, some of us are darker and lighter. We’re a mixed group of people, and MAC has so many great colour options for biracial people.”

Mariah is enthusiastic about how the beauty industry has altered over the years.

In 2015, the songstress is convinced the world is more accepting of diversity.

“More exotic people are being embraced as beauty icons,” she noted. “And people have opened their minds from the very traditional, typical, middle-American beauty — which is still a great thing to be and we love that — it’s just that now people have grown to embrace more of the exotic looks. A lot more children growing up don’t have to feel excluded and left out. It’s a good thing to progress in a nice way.”

Mariah’s All I Want lipstick will be released ahead of her Beauty Icon collection, as the latter is scheduled for a 2016 debut.
