Marion Cotillard remains Cannes' golden girl

Marion Cotillard and her fellow French stars amped up the glamour on the Cannes red carpet.

Marion Cotillard pulled out all of the stops for her latest red carpet arrival.

The French actress amped up the glamour at the star-studded screening of her new film From The Land Of The Moon at the Grand Theatre Lumiere during the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival on Sunday night (15May16).

Dazzling in a gold floor length Christian Dior gown which featured a black shoulder tie, Marion paired her look with matching black high heels, slicked back hair and plum lipstick. Promoting her new drama, which tells the story of a woman who is in a loveless marriage and falls for a WWII veteran, the 40-year-old brunette beauty appeared the epitome of glamour in her striking backless gown.

The film’s director Nicole Garcia also looked effortlessly stunning at the screening of her new project. The 70-year-old French actress and moviemaker opted for blue button down shirt and full-bodied skirt for the event, shunning the typical gowns for the comfortable yet elegant option.

Joining the ladies on the red carpet was model of the moment Kendall Jenner. Wearing a stunning sheer black embroidered ankle-grazing gown by Roberto Cavalli, the 20-year-old reality TV star-turned-supermodel turned heads in the daringly dramatic gown, in which she revealed a hint of high-waisted underwear.

Actress and Cannes jury member Vanessa Paradis followed suit in a navy blue floor length gown which featured red and white polka dots as a well as sheer black lace panels. But the 43-year-old kept it classy with fun ruffles on the shoulders and flowing train.

Elsewhere, Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan went for a bold choice at the same event, where she posed for selfies on the red carpet along with her colleagues from her upcoming film Sarbjit. Aishwarya, 42, pushed fashion boundaries further by wearing a Bardot style Rami Kadi dress adorned with delicate applique work which nipped in at the waist to emphasise her hour glass figure. While her gown was a classic silhouette, Aishwarya made a memorable sartorial statement with her make-up by wearing a slick of lavender-coloured lipstick paired with a smokey eye, as well as sporting a purple-tinted manicure.
