Mark Ruffalo slams 'little leotard'

Mark Ruffalo admits he felt like an "a**hole" wearing a leotard for his role as The Hulk in the upcoming film The Avengers.

The actor had to slim down to play the green superhero in the Marvel film. He says he was on a strict diet to fit into his unforgiving costume.

"I did a cleanse that was like hell. I lost 21 pounds and I've kept about 15 off. I quite like it - it's good to be a little trimmer," he told the UK edition of Elle magazine.

"I felt like such an a**hole wearing The Hulk's little leotard, though. When they were designing it, I was like, 'How about adding a codpiece? How about a** pads?' It's not very flattering."

However playing the part is a dream come for The Kids are All Right star. He said The Hulk was his favourite hero growing up.

"I thought The Hulk was cool. As a kid, you have two kinds of versions of yourself, so he was the hero I most identified with," he said.

The Avengers is set to be released worldwide later this month and also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth.
