Mary-Kate Olsen: Accessories are key

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen prefer to design casual pieces for their Elizabeth and James clothing range.

The star has clothing line Elizabeth and James with her twin sister Ashley.

For the designer duo it's all about keeping things minimalistic in their 2014 Resort collection.

"Our customer has a casual approach to fashion,” Mary-Kate explained to WWD.

“We wanted everything to be very clean, and allow the accessories and shoes to be the pop.”

The new line certainly sticks to this, showing simple silhouettes and immaculate tailoring.

Monochrome crops up frequently in the form of oversized tops, smart dresses and slouchy skirts.

One more colourful offering consists of an orange sleeveless top with a skirt in the same shade.

The outfit is finished off with a bright green bag.

Double denim can also be seen in the form of casual jeans, with a denim shirt tucked in.

The twins are also creative directors of Superga and worked with Garance Doré on a film that shows people wearing the casual footwear out and about.

In a behind-the-scenes video the fashionistas explained why they wanted to make the short promo.

"We were so attracted to working with you guys on this project because you really capture people in their environments but obviously you have your Italian romanticism that you put around it as well," they gushed to Garance and photographer Scott Schuman.

Entitled If These Shoes Could Talk, several wearers reveal what they love about the brand in the clip.
