Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen open up about their lives in fashion with their own covers for the December issue of Allure magazine.
The American actress and her twin sister Ashley have been given separate covers for the December issue of Allure magazine.
Mary-Kate is seen wearing a Viscose jersey blazer by hers and Ashley's clothing label The Row, paired with a gold necklace by Beladora and a crystal-enamel-and-gold charm by Fred Leighton.
While her natural blonde hair flows beautifully in her photo, the 27-year-old star admits it didn't always look so good.
"Extensions," she laughed when asked about her worst hair mistake. "I woke up one day and I said, 'You know, I don't want to wear a bikini top this summer, so I guess I'll get hair that covers my breasts.' And it did!"
Ashley's cover contrasts her sibling's, as she wears a simple white shirt from her own wardrobe.
The designer sisters have three clothing lines together - The Row, Elizabeth and James and Olsenboye. They are also planning to extend their empire by launching two scents for their Elizabeth and James line later this month.
Ashley is still bemused by how many questions they get asked concerning their businesses.
"It's not like you wake up one day and have a huge company with four or five different companies within the companies, not to mention our past and future," she noted.
Ashley also opened up about why she left her acting career behind. She and Mary-Kate made their TV debut aged six months in 1987 on sitcom Full House.
"I was reading scripts, and ultimately I just said to the people who were representing me, 'I need to do things 100 per cent. I don't feel like I can give you 100 per cent of my time,'" she recalled. "There's a lot of compromise in the entertainment industry. I can't sit in this room and audition for this part."
